10U went 2-1 in pool play at the Monroe Tournament during the week which helped them earn a playoff berth. With that playoff berth the 10's took advantage and made it to the Finals on Monday night dropping a tough contest and coming away with a runner-up finish.
10U (50/70) won its 3rd tournament in three weeks and 4th this summer going 4-0 for the 2nd straight week giving them the 1 seed and a 1st round bye in the playoffs. The 50/70 squad outscored their opponents 52-7 on the weekend.
11U played 2 separate tournaments this week and weekend going 2-0 during the week at the Monroe Tournament and 0-3 on the weekend in the USABL tournament. Their 2-0 record in pool play at Monroe earned them a playoff berth and the #1 seed. Key performers for the 11's were Jake Zaikov who threw a complete game in the 2nd game and Anthony Brigante who crushed a big 2 RBI double to help lead the Redhawk to victory. Playoffs for Monroe begin on July 15th and conclude at the end of the week.
12U came in second place over the weekend with the team having an all-around good performance highlighted by Andrew Fillipelli's first home run of the year. The 12's faced off against the Central Jersey Stampede in the championship game who they beat Memorial Day weekend with a walk off hit by Jake Beers. Unfortunately this championship was a different outcome. It was a hard fought game with Zoned leading 3-0 for 3 innings before Stampede answered with 2 runs in the 4th and in the bottom of the 5th jumped ahead with a two out three run go ahead home run. Going into the top of the 7th inning the Redhawks had runners on second and third with 2 outs but were ultimately stopped by tough stampede pitching.
13U Red went 1-2 over the weekend at the Tag-Em tournament in Pennsylvania with two tough 1 run losses in pool play. The team put themselves in position to make the playoffs in their last contest but lost a close 8-7 game to the Playmakers ending their playoff hopes. A key performer for Red this weekend was Owen walker who pitched 7 innings across 2 games while only giving up 2 runs.
13U Black went 1-2 at the ECTB tournament in Allentown, PA earning a playoff berth against the NJ Eagles. The Black squad had a great chance in the last inning to tie the contest with bases loaded and 1 out but were unable to complete the task. 2 key performers this weekend for the 13's was Taj Muhammed who went 8-11 with 1 double and 1 triple as well as Michael Giammarino who threw 5 innings on the hill giving up 4 hits while striking out 3.
14U Red came back from the PG25 World Series playing fundamentally sound baseball all weekend going 1-1-1 while continuing to improve in all areas as a team. Unfortunately the 14's were eliminated from playoff contention in their 3rd and final game. Key performers on the weekend were Greg Verano, Auriello Licata and Jack Tone. Verano allowed just 1 run in a complete game 8-1 victory over the Dragons in game 2 Saturday, Licata collected 3 hits including 2 doubles in the same contest and Tone allowed just 2 earned runs over 7 innings in the Game 3 loss to Reddick Baseball.
14U Black traveled to the Ripken Tournament in Maryland returning with a 2-2 record and berth in the playoff round. The Black squad needed a win in game 3 to reach the playoffs and did so with a mercy of the Hudson Explorers 13-2. Unfortunately the road ended after game 1 of the playoffs with a tough loss. Key performers on the weekend were Sam Noles who went 5-12, Aaron Borchert who went 4-7, John Cavanaugh who went 4-8 and Nick DeSito who threw a complete game 5 hitter in which he struck out 7.
15U Black went 2-1 on the weekend unfortunately being eliminated from playoff contention after their game 3 loss needing to go 3-0 to make the playoff round. Key performers for the Black squad were Regan Goldberg who hit a scorching .500 over 3 games collecting an RBI in each game while Michael Roseman hurled a complete game shutout against the Out of the Park cyclones allowing 1 hit while striking out 5 in the 3-0 victory.
15U Red went 2-2 on their weekend at the ECTB Tournament in Allentown, PA dropping 2 tough losses along the way to eventually end their tournament. In game 2 on Saturday, the Redhawks took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 7th losing on a walk-off single to the eventual champions. In playoff game 1 the Red squad came out smoking with a 12-0, 4 inning mercy of the AABA all-stars to help them advance. In the quarter finals however the 15's couldn't hold a 5-1 lead and fell to the tournaments #1 seed in a great 7-6 game. Key performers on the weekend included Kyle Wengryn who was 6-9, Dan Rini who went 5-9 with 3 RBI, Alex Degen who went 6-13 with 3 RBI and David Kurzrock who went 6-12 with 5 runs scored and an RBI.
16U is currently at the WWBA Perfect Game World Series in Emerson, GA and sits at 2-4 with 6 very hard and well fought games played.
17U had a tough week at their WWBA Perfect Game World Series going 0-6 and enduring a few close losses throughout their tournament run. A key performer for the 17's was Frank LoGuidice who gave up only 2 earned runs in a completed game 2-1 loss. 17U will return to action this week at the Boston Open.
