The 9U Elite team dropped their only contest of the weekend by the score of 4-2 against Hit and Run Baseball. A costly second inning which saw Hit and Run score 4 to take a 4-0 lead was the icing on the cake. The Elite team would add 2 in the 5th to crack the deficite to 4-2 thanks to Matt Martine who had an RBI single and was 2-2 on the day. The 9U team will look to bounce back when they return to play this weekend.

13U Elite Black
Playing in the Richmond County 13U tournament this weekend, the Elite Black squad collected 2 wins while scoring 16 runs in 3 total games. 13U Elite Black knocked of the LIB Expos in game 1 thanks to 4 runs scored in the 1st inning to help lead them to a 10-5 victory. Game 2 got away from 13U Black as the Bergen Bombers put up 6 runs in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead eventually winning the game 12-2. In game 3, which playoff hopes still on the line, the Black team bounced back winning a close contest against Elite Baseball Club 4-3. Zoned battled back from an early 2-0 deficit in the 1st thanks to scoring in the 1st and 2nd innings. With the scored tied 2-2 going into the 5th, a 2 RBI double gave the Elite team all they needed holding on 4-3 and finishing the weekend 2-1.
The 14U Elite squad exploded this past weekend scoring 34 total runs in 2 games dominating the LIB Expos Green team by the scores of 14-3 and 20-0. Neither game was really close as the 14U Elites scored early and often in both games having their way with each Expos pitcher. Game 1 saw 7 different Redhawks drive in a run with Jake Olson, Taj Muhammad and Justin Sinibaldi collecting 2 RBI each. Game 2 was much of the same for 14U Elite who scored 12 in the 1st, 5 in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd to dominate the inning shortened game by 20. All 11 14U players scored atleast a run during game 2 and 9 of 11 players drove in a run with Player of the Week Jake Olson leading the way with 4. 14U Elite looks to continue the winning ways this weekend.
The 14U Select squad had a great weekend at the Hitting for Heroes 14U Tournament going 2-2 and earning a berth in the playoffs. The tournament started off with a 7-4 victory against out of the park led by Brennan Lush and Sean Mac Williams. Lush was 2-3 with 2 2B and 2 RBI while Williams went 3-3 and drove in a run to help lead their team to victory. Playing against a tough TNT team in game 2 the Selects fell 14-3 with the game getting out of reach in the top of the 7th thanks to 7 runs scored by the TNT squad to help secure their victory. Needing to bounce back in hopes to make the playoffs, the 14U Selects did just that defeating the DVAA Bombers 15-4 in game 3 thanks to great pitching from Sean Mac Williams who threw a complete game 5.0 innings striking out 5 while only giving up 2 hits, 4 walks and 4 runs scored. Offensively, 14U set the tone early scoring 9 in the bottom of the 1st and 2 in the bottom of the 2nd to take a commanding 11-1 lead. 7 different Select players drove in a run against DVAA lead by Sam Gutkin who had 4 RBI himself. With the win and 2-1 pool record, 14U Select earned themselves a playoff berth. Hoping to make some noise in the playoffs, the 14U Selects unfortunately couldn't pull it off dropping to Full Count by the score of 14-3. The Select team looks to continue to build off of a positive weekend when they return to action.
Both the 16U and 17U Elite Redhawks participated in a College Showcase Scout Day this weekend at Raritan Valley Community College. 14 total schools across 3 levels were in attendance to watch our Redhawks play. The event lasted from 7:45am to 5:00pm with both teams going through 30 minutes of instruction from the college coaches, 2 rounds of BP, a full infield/outfield session and a 9 inning game. The day gave players and coaches the chance to interact, discuss the college process and hopefully begin building towards an opportunity to play at the next level.
