Throughout the Landscape of New Jersey High School Baseball and Softball there are plenty of young athletes who call their winter training home Zoned Sports Academy. These student-athletes and the Zoned Sports staff work tirelessly to improve their craft and prepare them for the spring season. Here is an update on some of the Zoned trained athletes succeeding this week:
Heather Tomaselli fired a no-hitter, walking four and striking out five to lead Bound Brook. Tomaselli contributed two hits and two RBIs s to her own cause
Kristen Williams posted two hits and drove in a run for Bridgewater-Raritan, but Phillipsburg tallied what proved to be the game winner on a fifth-inning error. Megan Zinn allowed just one earned run on five hits, walked none and struck out seven for the Panthers
Izzy Definis drove in what turned out to be the game winning run with a two-out single in the top of the 10th inning to lift Watchung Hills. Definis and Annie Suitovsky each finished with two hits and an RBI.
Kassidy Peterson finished 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs and two RBIs to fuel Pingry. Jill Bahr singled and knocked in two runs for the Big Blue (2-1), behind Katie Marino, who allowed just two earned runs on four hits, walked four and struck out 10.
Emma Corbett doubled, hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs to fuel Gill St. Bernard's
Freshman Julia Kwiatek tossed a four-inning no-hitter, walking two and striking out six to post her first varsity victory. Nicole Wishard went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and six RBIs for the Raiders
Gillian O'Connor allowed a run on just two hits over five innings, walking one and striking out 10 to lead Montgomery.Emily Riha and Molly Swayne picked up hits for Franklin (1-9).
Brooke Aldrich went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs. Izzy Definis finished 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Justina Walck chipped in three hits and three RBIs for the Terriers.
Katherine Vill allowed one run on one hit and struck out seven for the Tigers.
Nicole Majewski pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out seven. Jennifer Majorczak singled.
Brianna Zederbaum doubled and had three RBI.
Rachel Wyetzner added with a solo shot.
Katie Marino allowed just a run on five hits, walked one and struck out 17 to lead Pingry (5-2). Marino's sacrifice fly and Jillian Bahr's RBI single, both in the fourth inning, accounted for the Big Blue's scoring.
Eric Lawrence each drove in runs for the Blue Devils (3-5),while Ally Gulla scored two runs.
Jacqueline McNulla singled, doubled, scored four runs and drove in three more to spark Mount St. Mary.
Kira Ferraiolo finished 2-for-3 with two runs
