14U and 13 Redhawks Take Weekend Championships!
Over the weekend of July 4th, both the Zoned Redhawk Elite 14U Black and 13U teams came away with tournament championships in dominating fashion. The Redhawks Black team went 5-0 in the Brick July 4th explosion tournament scoring a total of 38 runs in 5 games; however the road was not easy. Having to squeak out two 3-2 victories against the Manalapan Braves and in the semi-finals against the 14U Zoned Red team paved the way for an 11-2 domination of the New Jersey 9ers in the finals to take home the trophy and another Tag-Em tournament Championship. The 14U Black team will return to action this week along with the 14U Red team when they travel to the Virginia Sports Complex for the 14U Dynamic National Championship.
After losing the first game 6-2 with only 3 hits, 7 walks and giving up 10 hits the 13U Redhawks bounced back only gave up 5 runs for the rest of the tournament. The 13s would have 21 hits in their next two games and 14 walks while only giving up 2 hits to help propel them into the semifinals with a chance to make a run for a championship. The semifinal game proved to be a test for the 13U Redhawks who were able to get great defensive and pitching which only gave up 6 hits during the semis to help give the team a birth in the championship. Great base running and timely hitting coupled with good pitching all weekend helped bring home the trophy for the Redhawks. The 13U squad returns to action this weekend when they travel to Brick for the Tag-Em Invitational.
16U and 17U Redhawks Complete Great Weekend of Competition
The 16U Redhawks went 2 and 1 in their first weekend tournament back from Florida. In game 1 the Redhawks beat the NJ Games with an 11-0 win. Andrew Prescott dominated on the mound with 7 strikeouts and only 1 hit allowed. In game two the Redhawks faced Pro Skills Baseball Academy where Frank Logiudice was electric on the mound, not allowing a runner until the 4th inning. He threw a complete game shutout helping propel the Redhawks to a 2-0 mark. In game three the hawks faced the NY Steelheads a team the Redhawks had squared up against already this summer dropping that contest 1-0. Cooper Sisco was on the bump looking for revenge and he pitched well however the Steelheads managed to squeeze across 2 runs in the second inning. The Redhawks answered back in the top of the 5th with a run, but the steelheads brought another run across in the bottom of the 5th. It was a great effort by the 16U Redhawks to compete all weekend and finish with a mark of 2-1. The 16U Redhawks are 5-4 in their last 9 games and look to improve on the mark as their summer season continues.
The continued trend of great baseball by the Redhawks Elite Organization continued when the 17U Redhawks made a run to the championship of the Triple Crown July 4th Classic. The 17's found themselves cruising through the pool stage of the tournament into the knockout round unscathed. With an undefeated mark going into the playoffs and a few dominating wins the 17's cruised into the championship game. All tournament the Redhawks hit the ball really well and capitalized on mistakes by the opposing teams but could not keep it going in the championship game. Good pitching and timely hitting from their opponents lead to a runner-up finish and the only loss of the tournament.
